Passed away February 8, 2008 at his residence. Jack was born August 12, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Samuel and Blanche Ickes and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 35 years as a construction superintendent for Miller-Davis Company and with his wife Bonnie, owned and operated Ickes Fruit Farm for over 30 years. Jack was a member of the Texas Corners Bible Church, an avid fisherman and an accomplished woodworker. He enjoyed his winter residence in Naples, FL where he had many dear friends. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie in 2004 and by a daughter Linda Bell in 1980 and by 4 brothers. Surviving are 1 son and 2 daughters, Paul Linda Ickes of Lawton, Nancy Larry Mishall of Portage and Jean Loren See of Lawton; 6 grandchildren, Terra and Jon Ickes, Chris Jenny Koblik, Darin Mishall, April and Scott See; 2 great-grandchildren, Kendall and Ryan Koblick; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Dorothy Dan Crawford of Schoolcraft, Arlene Harold Jabaay of Indiana and Harold Hazel Ickes of Schoolcraft. Private graveside services will be held at Hope Cemetery, Texas Township followed by a memorial service at 11:00 on Friday, February 15th at the Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 S. 8th St. with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions in Jack's memory be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or the Texas Corners Bible Church.
