Inara Richter

RICHTER, Inara Kalamazoo Passed away February 23, 2007 at Bronson Hospital. Inara was born June 17, 1934 in Tadaiki, Latvia, the daughter of Augusts and Olga Blankenburgis and came to the United States as a teenager in 1951. Inara entered high school in Middleville, MI and was welcomed by the student body which elected her Homecoming Queen. She graduated from Davenport College in Grand Rapids, after which she became employed as the Executive Secretary for Glen Allen, the mayor of Kalamazoo. She later worked as a legal secretary for law firms in the area until her retirement. Inara was keenly interested in current events and became active in community affairs including working with local kidney transplant patients. She showed her love for her country by becoming a United States citizen. Inara attended and was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Family was very important in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cross stitching and gardening. On November 1, 1958, she was married to William Richter, who survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter and 2 sons, Linda Richter of Santa Ana, CA, William Kathy Richter, II of Kalamazoo and Eric Janlee Richter of Wyoming, MI; 3 grandchildren, Rudy, Emma and Jayden Richter; a sister Ligita Samsons of Kalamazoo; a niece Sandra Samsons of Kalamazoo and a nephew Andris Samsons of Melbourne, Australia. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3000 W. Main St. with the Rev. David Sidwell officiating. Inurnment of cremated remains at Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery will be announced. Memorial contributions in Inara?s memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Kidney Foundation of MI.
