Iloma Mae Anderson

December 6, 1941 — April 19, 2011

ANDERSON, Iloma
of Holland, MI Iloma Mae Anderson was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Ignoring a prognosis of imminent death in October of 2010, she escaped an in-patient hospice program and spent her last months at an assisted living apartment in Holland, MI with her husband of 46 years, Harold H. Anderson. She fought courageously and with good spirits against a previous heart attack and ensuing cardiac problems, diminished lung functioning and kidney failure. Her passing was peaceful and without suffering. Born December 6, 1941 she was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Ted Hausmann and Gertude Sauter Thorsen. In addition to her husband, also surviving are her three children: Gretchen and James Cummings, Holland, MI; Christa and Tim Mullaly, Memphis; TN, and Duane and Tammy Anderson, Oklahoma City, OK; her sister, Alicia and Jon Lindgren, Wilkes-Barre, PA; seven grandchildren - John, Dylan, David, Levi, Logan, Riley, and Racheal; and several other beloved family "out east" near Boston and in New York City including brother-in-laws Dennis, Ralph, Donald, and Bobby Anderson, their children, and nephews Mike and Alex Lindgren. Iloma graduated from Valparaiso University and before starting her family taught English in Oscoda, MI. She served as a deacon and was a member of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church for many years and later in life worked as a volunteer and enjoyed traveling to various resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. She will be remembered by her family for her devotion to her children, her un-wavering support and encouragement for her husband's love of music and career by many for her heart-warming smile. All who wish to pay their respects are more than welcome to do so. Visitation will be Friday April 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Langeland Funeral Home in Comstock, Michigan - 6121 King Highway, 269 343-1508. Services will be Saturday April 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 East Main at the corner of 26th St, with Pastor Patrick White of the Allegan Christ Community Church, as well as long-time friend of the family, Reverend Bruce Haight officiating. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service and is open to all; private interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock for immediate family later that day. Memorials in Iloma's memory may be directed to Kalamazoo Humane Society or to the Divine at Allegan Christian Community Church.
