CHIECHI, Illona "Lona"
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away December 19, 2008 at Borgess Hospital. She was born May 16, 1936 in Kalamazoo, to the late Rusty and Cleo Walsh. Lona was united in marriage on September 3, 1954 to Joseph Chiechi, who survives. Lona loved her family but she especially enjoyed being with her "sunshine", granddaughter, Jennifer Jo. She was an avid animal advocate who would stop at nothing to ensure that her critters were safe and treated humanely. Also surviving Lona are her children, Joseph Chiechi, Jr. of Kalamazoo and Rodger Gina Chiechi of Parchment; granddaughter Jennifer Jo Chiechi; brother, James Walsh and; sisters, Jeri Dot Langley and Connie Hager. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 29th at 12:00, at the Kalamazoo Missionary Church, 5045 E. Michigan Ave., where a visitation will also take place from 11-12:00, prior to the service. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Humane Society.
