TAYLOR, Ida M.
Of Portage Ida passed away Friday morning, April 19, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born March 1, 1926 in Gobles, MI. Ida worked for The Upjohn Co. for 43 years until her retirement. On July 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Glen R. Taylor. Ida enjoyed her rural living, where she loved nature and raised horses for many years. She was also very athletic and played many sports over the years, including playing in the Upjohn Softball League and bowling. Surviving are daughter, Christine Joe Peckels of Portage; two grandchildren, Adam fiancée Jessica Zahn Peckels and Kelsey Peckels and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, Glen Taylor, on September 13, 1982; her mother, Edith Miller Sprau Martin Lanphear; father, Fred Martin; step-father, Charles Lanphear; three brothers, Arthur, Fred and Evert Sprau; and two sisters, Olinna Hill and Esther Fitzpatrick Fate. Honoring Ida's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
