Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday morning September 17, 2008 Howard was born October 28, 1923 in Cassopolis, Michigan a son of John and Tressie Lyons Stearns. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with James Rivers Corporation for 40 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bettye M. Stearns; and 6 brothers. He is survived by 3 children, Lana Stearns of Columbia, TN, Gary Judy Stearns of Gobles, and Alan Carolyn Stearns of Clifton, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S.
