SANTEE, Mr. Howard E. "Red"
Portage, MI Died Wednesday morning January 5, 2011. Howard was born November 19, 1927 in Hundred, West Virginia a son of Simon Harold and Lillian Mae Elder Santee. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Air Force. Howard was employed with the Y.M.C.A. for 10 years before retiring. He also worked at Allen Electric and owned Santee Autotronics years ago. Howard was also a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church; Gideon's International; American Legion; and the Royal Rangers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Patricia Rose Eaton in April of 1992; and a brother, Glen Santee. On September 12, 1992, he was united in marriage to Anna "Ann" M. Kuiper-Griffioen Santee who survives. Also surviving, 7 children, Diana Robert Allen of Richland, Sue Ann John Nemeth of Benton Harbor, Douglas Angela Santee of Plainwell, Sandy Mike Skartsiaris of Kalamazoo, Ronald Margie Krafft Griffioen of Gurney, IL, Steven Joannie Griffioen of Kalamazoo, and Kenneth Sue Griffioen of Portage; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Joyce Santee of Allegan; and a sister, Delores Oisten of Allegan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Monday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 7028 Oakland Dr. Visitation will be 12-2 and 4-6pm Sunday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Private burial will take place in Vicksburg Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
