Howard C. Hattan

Passed away Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Howard was born June 1, 1935 in South Haven, MI. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 38 years with the maintenance department for Portage Public Schools. He enjoyed truck farming, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with his wife in their small family business, “Nature’s Acres”. On November 5, 1964 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Betty (Weber) who preceded him in death on November 2, 2021. Howard is survived by his sons, Tim Hattan, Scott (Pam) Hattan, Bill Hattan; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special families, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Swartzloff, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Powell. Friends may meet the family from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, November 29 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 411 E. Centre, Portage, MI 49002. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, November 30 at Genessee Prairie Cemetery in Oshtemo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice.
