JOHNSON, Mr. Herman C.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Sunday April 1, 2012. Herman was born January 20, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Claus and Anna Hiemstra Johnson. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Herman was also a member of Bethany Reformed Church; the V.F.W.; and the "prime time players". He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Johnson on September 20, 2005; a brother, Henry Johnson; and a sister, Jeanette Pfeiffer. He is survived by 2 daughters, Judy John Pechur of Traverse City, MI; and Barbara Michael Miller of Slidell, LA; 4 grandchildren, Melissa Bailey, John C. Pechur Jr, Emily Reed, and Aaron Ballett; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Monday, April 9th at Bethany Reformed Church, 1133 S. Burdick St. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 6-8pm Saturday, April 7th and 6-8pm Sunday, April 8th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Private burial will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or the Bethany Reformed Church.
