SIMONDS, Herbert E.
of Kalamazoo Herb passed away early Thursday morning, November 17, 2011 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born April 25, 1920 in Kalamazoo, the son of Adrian and Mary Smith Simonds. Herb attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving 5 ½ years during World War II from June 25, 1940 to December 3, 1945 in France, Germany and Belgium. Herb was a printer by trade working for Kalamazoo Publishing Co. and Illinois Envelope for 50 years retiring from Illinois Envelope in 1985. He was a member of VFW Post #827 where he was a life member. Herb was also a past member of the board of Men's Bowling League. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services with military honors for Herb will be at 2:00 PM on Monday tomorrow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, 3941 S. Westnedge Avenue.
