Herbert L. Garrison, Jr

GARRISON, Herbert L., Jr. Portage Passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2006. He was born February 22, 1923 in Norfolk, VA the son of Herbert L. Sr. and Lucille Webb Garrison and had lived in the Portage area for many years. He had served his country during WW II in the Army Air Force as a photographer with the 17th Photograph Reconnaissance Squadron in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was an avid photographer who took and processed his own pictures. During his working years, he had been employed in the air freight industry for over 37 years, many of them as a Sales Manager for Amerford International Air Freight. Herbert was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was active in the community with the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. On May 29, 1948 he married the former Lyda Stewart, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Linda Garrison and her husband, Robert Emmert of Bangor, and a granddaughter, Lizzie Emmert of Bangor. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM in the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 7028 Oakland Drive, with Rev. Barry Petrucci officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, on Sunday from 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
