GROSSER, HERALD D. Herald Donald Grosser, 93, of Portage, concluded his earthly journey on Thursday morning, September 5, 2013, in Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart, Indiana. Herald was born December 28, 1919 in Casco Township, near South Haven, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Mosey Grosser. He spent most of his life in the Portage/Kalamazoo area. In December of 2011 he moved to Wakarusa, Indiana to live near a daughter. Herald was a Field Technician in the Foundry Industry working many years for Shell Sands, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio. He loved his career and worked into his 90's. He was a long-time member of the American Foundry Society. In his earlier years he was employed as a Five-Color Pressman for Sutherland Paper Company. Herald was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing. Herald was especially known for his love of tinkering and fixing things for everyone. He liked having a meticulous lawn. But by far his greatest joy was his family. Herald married Pauline Bolle on January 5, 1940. She preceded him in death in 2006 after 66 years of marriage. Herald's surviving family includes his three children, Joyce Chuck Farho of Portage, Robert Maxine Grosser of Kalamazoo and Marcia Chris Wells of Mishawaka, Indiana; five grandchildren, Lori Charlie Wajszczuk, Tod Renee Langeland, Kathy Allman, Robert Tammy Grosser and Ryan Leah Wells; four step grandchildren, Tom Beth Farho, Mary Jim Weaver, Jenny David Rees White, Steve Shannon Farho; twelve great grandchildren, Alison and Amanda Sagara, Katie, Elizabeth and C.J. Wajszczuk, Brandon and Bailey Allman, Zachary and Holly Grosser and Jacob, Adam and Madelyn Wells; ten step great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie Esman and Phyllis Frisbie. Besides his wife Pauline, Herald was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ken Langeland; infant grandchildren, Paula and Dawn Grosser and Connor Wells; great grandsons, Adam Sagara and infant Steven Wells; twin brother, Gerald Grosser; and brothers, Robert and Richard Grosser. Friends may spend time with Herald's family on Sunday, September 8th from 3 - 6 pm in Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage. Services honoring Herald's life will be held on Monday, September 9th at 12 noon in the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Kruithof and Pastor Bob Terwilliger officiating. Burial will follow at Central Portage Cemetery.
