SCHREUDER, Henry
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Mr. Schreuder passed away early Monday morning, April 14, 2008 at Borgess Nursing Home. He was born May 28, 1922 in Kalamazoo, one of eight children to Samuel and Anna Newmeyer Schreuder. Henry was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 525 and worked as a carpenter for 45 years, many of those at Miller-Davis Builders. Henry was a former member of North Park Reformed Church and currently a member of Third Reformed Church. On October 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Clapp in Kalamazoo, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Paul Rea Schreuder of Kalamazoo, Alan Sue Schreuder of Chiapas, Mexico, Lois Paul Strong of Naperville, IL, and Mary Harry Disselkoen of Hudsonville; 10 grandchildren, Brian Lynelle Schreuder, Joel Sarah Schreuder, Karyn Joshua Honig, Rebecca Rogelio Gomez, Jennifer Chris Dykstra, Angela Jason VanGorp, Michael Mary Schreuder, Jonathan Cathy Strong, Alison Bryan Fischer, and Andrew Disselkoen; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Annette Kuilema, Winifred Bachelder, Marion Meeker, and Grace Maynard Shipe; 1 brother, Herman Joann Schreuder; 1 sister-in-law, Jennie Schreuder of Kalamazoo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 great-grandson, Cody VanGorp; 1 brother, Martin Schreuder; 1 sister, Wilma Jones. Funeral services for Mr. Schreuder will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at Third Reformed Church, 2345 N. 10th Avenue, with Rev. Darwin VanderWal officiating. Private interment with military honors will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Kalamazoo Christian School Association, or Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services. www.langelands.com
