Of Kalamazoo The Lord took Henry peacefully, Monday evening, July 23, 2007 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Henry was born October 28, 1914 in Kalamazoo the son of John and Elizabeth Doff and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. For many years he worked for the Grand Union Coffee Company and later retired from the Kalamazoo Public Schools. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church. Henry loved his wife and family; enjoyed music; along with spending time in his flower gardens. He was preceded in death by a son, Russel Post; grandson, Stephen Paul; 3 brothers, Fred, Art, and Neil; and a sister, Jane. On March 28, 1940 Henry was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Henrietta Sportel who survives. Also surviving are his children, Ruth Ron Eshuis, Mary Jerry DeYoung, Lois Bill Koning, Russel deceased Sara Post, Betty Joe Hendriksen, John Pam Post, Nancy Steve Klooster, David Cheryl Post; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Terry Henry Sopjes, Daisy DeKruyter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gert Post, Jean Stoneburner, Anne Post, Ann King, Henry Henrietta Sportel, Garry Evelyn Sportel, Art Jan Sportel, and Berdine Flamm; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 3:00 o?clock Thursday at the Second Christian Reformed Church 3015 Nichols Rd with Pastor James Admiraal officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Second Christian Reformed Church, the Kalamazoo Christian Schools, or the Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services.
