Henry Esman, Sr

Esman, Mr. Henry, Sr. Kalamazoo Henry Esman, Sr. passed away Saturday morning, August 25, 2007, at his home. He was born June 16, 1926, in Vicksburg, MI, a son of Harm and Effie Newhouse Esman. In his younger years, Henry was a celery and bedding plant grower and later worked for Weisman Brothers for over 35 years before retiring. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Amos, Peter, Jacob and Harm Esman, Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Fiona Esman. On July 7, 1947, he was united in marriage with the former Marjorie J. Grosser, who survives. Also surviving are: seven children and their spouses, Effie & Charles King, Henry & Linda Esman, Jr., Marjorie & Daniel Rice, Harm & Penny Esman, Evelyn & Wayne Brigance, Jacob & Paulette Esman and George & Deborah Esman; 32 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Battjes, Clara & Bob Vlietstra and Lena & Ray Sampson; a brother, Cornelius & Donna Esman; a sister-in-law, Jenny Esman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 3:00 Wednesday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Burial in Genessee Prairie Cemetery will follow services. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family, checks payable to: Marjorie J. Esman.
