VOSS, Henrietta W.
of Portage Henrietta passed away Sunday evening, February 19, 2012 at Kairos Dwelling. She was born November 23, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Henry and Wynanda Sopjes Koning. Henrietta graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1943. On May 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Preston Voss. Henrietta was employed by Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital for over 20 years until her retirement. She was an active longtime member of Grace Christian Reformed Church where she served in the Dorcas Society. Henrietta also never missed any of her grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving are her three children, Richard Donna Voss of Ludington, Carol Robert Jager of Kalamazoo and Robert Jan Voss of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren, David Jody Voss, Richard Voss Jr., Travis Kelli Jager, Tyler Erin Jager, Brett Brielle Jager, Jaymie Voss and Nathan Sarah Voss; 7 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Isaiah, Elijah, Emerson and Jada; brother, Al Koning; three sisters-in-law, Harriett Koning, Hester Koning and Ilene Voss; brother-in-law, Gale Pat Voss and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 41 years, John Preston Voss; brother, John Koning; and sister, Gertrude VanDam. A memorial service celebrating Henrietta's life will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Road, with Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 pm on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
