Three Rivers On Saturday evening, December 8, 2012, with her family at her side, Henrietta went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born January 24, 1923 in Kalamazoo, a daughter of Karsien "Case" and Jennie Napp Kroeze and was a lifelong resident of this area. On March 17, 1944, Henrietta was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Sportel in Kalamazoo. She was employed in all aspects of the family business, Sportel and Sons. Henrietta was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Hank; her two daughters, Carol Doug Hick of Mattawan and Jan Len Bultema of Stoughton, WI; two grandsons, Chris Bonnie Hick of Sarasota FL and Don Erin Terpstra of Dayton, OH; two granddaughters, Kym John Cassidy of Grand Rapids and Heather Hick of Louisville, KY; three great grandsons, Trenton and Braeden Terpstra and Zach Cassidy; one great granddaughter, Hope Cassidy; her brother, Henry Nellie Kroeze, of Kalamazoo; brother-in-law, Bob Sportel of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Allen Terpstra; and a sister, Annetta Sportel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 12:00 Noon in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor David Downs, officiating. The family will receive friends a the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Alzheimer's Association Kalamazoo Office.
