WALDO, Hendrick Clare
of Kalamazoo, MI Clare passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at his home. He was born July 22, 1918 in Kalamazoo, one of three children to Frank and Gertrude VerHage Waldo. Clare was a veteran of the Untied States Army Air Corp. serving during World War II. On August 17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Borden. Clare was a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union Local 7, a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Three Rivers, and a current member of West Oshtemo Baptist Church. He also loved to sing and sail. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Waldo; their 2 children, Barb Waldo of Kalamazoo and David Barbara Waldo of North East, PA; 4 granddaughters, Elizabeth and Katherine Spencer, and Rebecca and Stephanie Waldo; sister, Dorothy Harold Dykstra of Alamogordo, NM; sister-in-law, Carol Borden; brother-in-law, Stan Borden; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Clare will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at West Oshtemo Baptist Church, 10460 West KL Ave., with Rev. John Hill officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to West Oshtemo Baptist Church or Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services.
