SMITH, Mrs. Helyn A.
of Gobles, Michigan Passed away Sunday morning December 2, 2012. Helyn was born October 27, 1933 in Racine, WI, daughter of Henry and Laura Christiansen Trinke. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1997, coming from Colorado. She attended Marquette University in Milwaukee before marrying Kendall John Smith of Racine, WI. Helyn was passionate about her activities with Civic Auditorium and the Chula Vista Garden Club, loved her pets and home on North Lake, and enjoyed bicycling the Kal-Haven trail. Helyn was employed with BASF Wyandotte Corporation of Wyandotte, MI, for 15 years before retiring out of state. Upon her return, she enjoyed greeting customers at Meijer. Helyn was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Trinke; and a sister, Dorothy Miller. She is survived by sons, Jay Dori Smith of Vicksburg, Jamison Lora Smith of Florence, OR, and Jeffrey"Woody" Smith of Denver, CO; and a daughter, Jennifer David Novich of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Lara, Colin, and Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nephews.
