ZIMMICK, Helene R. Cross
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Sunday evening, April 19, 2009 with her loving family at her side. Helene was born October 19, 1922 in Lawton, MI the daughter of Frank and Mary Pogorelc Gornick. She worked at Bronson Hospital as the Head Cook for 16 years before her retirement in 1986. She liked to read, work in her yard and flower beds, and do jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Cross in 1970; her second husband, Dick Zimmick in 1995; 7 brothers and sisters, Frank, John, Joseph, Mildred, Mary, Frances and Jean. Surviving is her son, John Vicki Cross; 2 grandchildren, John, Jr. Connee Cross, Michelle Cory DeGroote; 2 great-grandsons, Trevor and Tyler DeGroote; a brother, Anthony Bernice Gornick; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 o'clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the chapel. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, or Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. www.langelands.com
