WILLIAMS, Helen L. Age 70 Kalamazoo After a courageous battle against cancer, Helen died in her home and went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. She was born on January 23, 1937, in Atchison, Kansas, but lived in Kalamazoo most of her life. Helen was the second child of Harrison and Ethel Mallon Roberts. She is preceded in her death by her parents as well as her brother Duane Roberts and her husband of nearly 52 years, Paul E. Williams, who passed away less than a year ago. Helen is survived by her sisters Marie Burd and Sandy Hill, her brother Shorty Roberts, and her very best friend Bev Hacker. She is also survived by her dear children: Dan Jackie Williams, Ron Suki Williams, Diane Larry Porter, and Teresa McClary. Helen sadly leaves behind eight grandchildren: Wendy, Matthew, Dawn, Michelle, Lisa, Paul, Austin and Shane, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Helen worked in housekeeping at Bronson Hospital during the 70?s and 80?s. She loved quilting and sewing, gardening, going to garage sales, and spending lots of time with her children and grandchildren. Helen was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, and a precious friend. She was a woman with a remarkable spirit and a delightful sense of humor and she?ll be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Helen?s doctor Marcia Liepman and Helen?s Hospice nurse, Deb Stupka. A viewing will take place at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway on Saturday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of SW Michigan Arcadia Office or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
