Portage, Michigan Died Sunday morning October 19, 2008. Helen was born May 17, 1925 in St. Albans, West Virginia a daughter of Henry and Vola Martin Arbaugh. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1959, coming from Oklahoma. She owned and operated Martinique Beauty Salon before retiring in 1964. She was also a member of 12th Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christopher on January 21, 1993; and 2 sisters, Phala Bloss and Jacqueline Bunce. On December 2, 1945, she was united in marriage to Dr. Clinton F. Martin who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Kerry Audrey Martin of Galesburg, Jonathan Ann Martin of Stuart, FL, and Melissa Douglas Nelson of Portage; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1 o'clock Wednesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the 12th Street Baptist Church. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
