HARP, Helen Nadine
Of Mendon
Went home to be with her Lord, Thursday evening March 26, 2009. Helen was born December 28, 1930 in Moulton, Alabama, the daughter of Garth and Mallie Heflin Goodwin and has been a resident here for over 50 years. She was a very active member of the 12th Street Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and in the Ladies Auxiliary. On November 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Ruel Harp who preceded her in death on February 12, 2002. Surviving are three children, Sonja Ken McCulloch of Vicksburg, Starlin Harp of Fulton and Darla Bill Cook of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Terra William McKim, Christopher Lyndsey Harp, Loria and Jasmin Harp; 2 great-grandchildren, Trentin and Jerzie Harp; brothers and sisters, Polly Gordon Cross of Paw Paw, Horace Shirley Goodwin of Paw Paw, Rocky Jeanette Goodwin of Warren, AK, Peggy Sue Kniss of Mendon; nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the special caregivers, especially her sister, Peggy Sue and Kim, Karen and Dawn from Borgess VNA Hospice. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1-2 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave where a service to celebrate Helen's life will be held 2:00 PM Monday with Pastor Randy Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Helen's memory may be directed to Borgess VNA Hospice or West Michigan Cancer Center.
