EIDSON, Helen Elizabeth
Age 89, of Kalamazoo Died December 7, 2007 at the Alamo Nursing Home. Helen was born in Cygnet, Ohio, May 15, 1918 to Arthur and Lelah Kenyon Eidson. She had a long career as a secretary in Toledo, OH, Washington, D.C., Tucson, AZ and Miami, FL. She retired from the University of Miami Law School in 1988. As a member of both the Tropical Flowering Tree Society and the Miami Beautification Committee, she was instrumental in the planting of Royal Poinciana trees in South Miami. Her fondness for this tree led Helen to promote the issuing of a postage stamp featuring its blossoms. The stamp was issued in 1999. Her enthusiasm and persistence in lobbying for that stamp and an earlier one in 1987 was recognized in Linn?s U.S. Stamp yearbook for 1999. When she came to Michigan in 1994, she left many friends in Florida. She is survived by a brother, Emerson and his wife Zola; a sister-in-law, Pearl Eidson; nephew, Michael Eidson and nieces, Betty Bursiek, Linda Sandvoss, Carolyn Allen, Janie Bare, Ann Eidson and Martha Gordon.
