CHENERY, Helen I. Jokela Of Portage Passed away Monday July 2, 2007 at her home. Helen was born September 5, 1920 in Pigeon, MI the daughter of Louis and Mary Barber Molnar. She was an extraordinary seamstress and cook; and enjoyed crocheting, her flower gardens, macramé, canning, music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Swante Jokela; her 2nd husband, Richard Chenery; 3 children, Michael, Joanne, and Carl Jokela; and a brother, and 3 sisters. Surviving are 8 children, Donna Browne, Sharon Tom Labadie, Carol Bucholtz, Kathryn Levine, Ernest Theresa Chenery, Dennis Jokela, Rick Jokela, Steven Melissa Chenery; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 1:00 o?clock Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Chaplain Vern Luchies officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. Friends may meet the family Thursday and Friday evenings from 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Services of Southwest MI or the charity of your choice.
