of Comstock, Michigan Went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Age 92 years. Helen was born on September 8, 1920 in Comstock, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Alice Schuring DeYoung. She retired from Upjohn Company after 33 years of service. Helen was married to Dale W. Burkhead on March 7, 1947; he preceded her in death on August 11, 2000. She is survived by her brother, Cornelius "Bud" and Joyce DeYoung of Comstock; her sister-in-law, Arlene DeYoung of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters and their spouses, Gertrude and Royce Slack, Jenny and Harry Paxton, Alice and Bill VanDyke, Rena and Lambert Medendorp, Jacob and Violet DeYoung, Nelson and Marion DeYoung and Harm DeYoung. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Comstock Christian Reformed Church, 5300 Comstock Ave., where funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ben Hulst will officiate. Private interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Comstock Christian Reformed Church, Kalamazoo Christian Schools or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
