SMITH, H. Lucille ?Lucy?
Age 81, of Galesburg Passed away peacefully on December 20, 2007 at home in Galesburg with her family. She was the daughter of Guy and Phoebe Slater Hayward. Lucy was married to Sidney G. Smith on June 2, 1946 and together they purchased and operated the Coronet Advertiser for nearly 40 years. Lucy is survived by loving companion, Derald Blake; daughter, Nancy Steve Murray of Galesburg; son, Bill Linda Smith of Kalamazoo; granddaughters, Susan Murray of Galesburg and Kimberly Murray of Chicago, IL; step-granddaughter, Suzie J.R. Dean of Parchment; step-grandson, Dan Rebecca Lumbard of Pensacola, FL; great-granddaughter, Makenna Murray; step-great-grandchildren, Cole and Cruz Dean and Braeden and Camden Lumbard; brother, Roger Hayward of Chilocothe, OH and several very special nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Sid on April 10, 1985; grandchildren, Steve and Emily Murray; brothers, Alden and Harold Hayward and sister, Alice Adams. Lucy was a devoted wife, mother and friend in addition to being a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the 8 o?clock Club and was a former Sweet Adeline. Lucy was also a member of the Michigan Shoppers Guide Association. She took up golf after retiring which she enjoyed very much. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 22 from 1-2 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street where Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday with Rev. Whitney Brown of Galesburg Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
