GAY, Hazel Marguerite
Of Zephyrhills, FL
Formerly of Portage, MI Hazel passed away peacefully into the care of the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. She was born January 19, 1917, in Kalamazoo, the daughter Fred and Ethel Wells DeHaven. She was a graduate of Portage Central High School and the Kalamazoo LPN School of Nursing. She retired from Bronson Methodist Hospital in 1979. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William DeHaven; and grandson, Charles Gay. She is survived by her beloved husband and eternal soul mate of more than 71 years, Herbert Gay; son, Herbert Joanne Gay of Pascagoula, MS daughters, Carol Hilboldt of Parchment, MI, Joan Jack Davison of Harrisburg, NC, Kathy Dennis Girard of Leesburg, FL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Hazel was an active member of the Portage Methodist Church before retirement and then the Zephyrhills Methodist Church in Florida. She was a devoted family woman and loved to knit, sew and read. She especially loved traveling the U.S. with her husband in their campers and motor homes. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday with Pastor Dan Minor officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Hazel's memory may be directed to East Pasco Hospice or Zephyr Haven Nursing Home.
