Died Friday afternoon March 9, 2007 at her residence. Hazel was born July 17, 1913 in Baxter, Iowa a daughter of Charles and Rose Sego Logsdon. She had been a Galesburg area resident most of her life and was employed with the Burgess Seed and Plant Company for many years before retiring. Hazel was also active with the Galesburg-Charleston Fire Department for 49 years and was a life member of the Galesburg United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman J. Crittenden, Sr. the former fire chief of Galesburg-Charleston Fire Department on July 16, 1999; and 9 brother and sisters. She is survived by 2 children, Norman J. Ella Crittenden of Mulberry, FL and Dr. Deloris A. Crittenden of Galesburg; 5 grandchildren, Stephen E. Janice and Mark J. Julie Crittenden, Stephen R., Douglas N. Erin and Jeffrey S. Karen Brown; 11 great-grandchildren, Sarah J. Crittenden, Allysa and Jessica Crittenden, Nicole C. Billy Knapp, Jamie L. Brown, Michael D. Brown, Denee and Peyton Steinbacher, and Matthew D., Zachary J. and Joshua D. Brown; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Daniel, Alexandria and Andrew Knapp; twin sisters, Delores Armstrong and Doris Borts both of Newton, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1:30 Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday and 10-11am Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 West Battle Creek St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shalom Inc.
