Harry "Mick" LaRoy Brown

Harry LaRoy “Mick” Brown, age 88, of Kalamazoo passed away October 4, 2022. He was born April 11, 1934 in Kalamazoo to the late Lester and Dorothy (Green) Brown.

Mick was a 1952 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. On May 23, 1953, he married the former Carmelita “Carmie” Fitzsimmons. Mick was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed traveling with Carmie. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. He was a member of the Elks Club and an inductee to the Kalamazoo Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Les “Skip” Brown.

He is survived by Carmie, his loving wife of 69 years and his caregiver during his battle with the disease of Alzheimer’s. He is “Dad” to four children, Sheryl (Jeff) Downer, Diane (Keith) Alvord, Randy (Beth) Brown, and Jim Brown (Paula); He is “Grandpa” to 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by each and every one of them.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Andrew Community Church, 3631 Covington Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Pastor Jim Dyke will officiate the service. Immediately following the memorial service, a luncheon to celebrate Mick’s life will be held at the church. He will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton.
