NICHOLS, Harry P. Of Portage Passed away Wednesday evening November 15, 2006 at his residence. Harry was born November 2, 1916 in Richmond, IN the son of Lake and Muriel Meyers Nichols and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1976 he was employed with Consumers Concrete for 25 years as a truck driver. Harry was a member of the Red Arrow VFW Post #1527 and the Portage Moose Lodge #88. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life which included spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edree Axe. On May 4, 1946 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 60 years, the former Lila Huggins, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Paul Karen Nichols, Dennis Nichols; a daughter-in-law, Nila Nichols; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Pam Nichols, Denise Gary Blanchard, Blake Nichols; 4 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jeffrey, Derek, and Josh; a sister and brother, Regina Sweet, Dexter Marlene Nichols; several nieces and nephews; and dear family friends, Marcia Jim Jones, and Damon Michelle Raker. Services will be held 11:00 o?clock Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Pastor Buff Coe officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice
