Portage, MI Died Sunday morning September 6, 2009. Harry was born November 17, 1920 in St. Joseph, Michigan a son of William and Minnie Schlutt Meschke. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 44 years and was employed with Kalamazoo Manufacturing for 35 years before retiring. He was also a charter member of Portage United Church of Christ. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene M. Meschke on March 22, 2003; a sister, Margriet Barts; and 2 brothers, Edgar and Alden Meschke. He is survived by 3 children, Ron Judy Meschke of Spring Lake, MI, Gary Susie Meschke of Portage, and Rodger Betsy Meschke of Williamston, MI; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Wahneta Charles Miller of Coloma, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 1 o'clock Saturday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be in North Shore Memorial Gardens, Benton Harbor, MI. Memorials may be directed to the Portage United Church of Christ or Portage Tendercare. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
