OLIVER, HAROLD
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Harold Oliver, age 87, passed away May 24, 2012 at his residence in Kalamazoo. Harold was born December 25, 1924, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the son of James and Ellen Owen Oliver. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46. He was employed for 38 years with Consumers Power Company retiring as power plant supervisor. Harold was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church in Portage. On May 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Cousino Oliver and they resided many years in Battle Creek prior to relocating to Kalamazoo in 1992. Harold was preceded in death by Mary Ann on August 20, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings, Fidelus Graves, Rita Karl, William, George and James Oliver. On July 3, 1998, he was united in marriage to Judith Bullington Tesar Oliver, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Mary Chuck O'Connor, Karen Tom Jozwiak, Mark Erika Oliver, Barbara Mike Rynberg, David Rita Oliver, Gregory Jill Oliver and Susan Kevin Schmidt; step-sons, Bruce Esther Tesar and Miles Kasia Sobieraj-Tesar Tesar; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Harold's life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church 10441 Shaver Rd., Portage, MI 49002 with Rev. Cassandra Howe officiating. Immediately following services, friends are invited to join the family for a time of refreshments and fellowship at the church. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
