Of Kalamazoo
Died June 15, 2010 at Bronson Hospital. Skip was born November 12, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, IA, a son of Harold and Catherine Leeming Bills and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for most of his life. He graduated from State High School, attended MSU and graduated from Western Michigan University. He served in the 11th Army Airborne division during the Korean Conflict. Skip's main hobby was Suzi, but he also enjoyed golfing and building model sailing ships in his home workshop. Suzi describes Skip as being her best friend, husband and father for their children. Skip was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob. On June 19, 1954, he was married to the former Suzanne Bunto, who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Laurie Charlie Hittle of Spring Lake, Michael Lee Terri Bills of Grand Rapids, Terry Karen Bills of Tacoma, WA, Patricia S. Bills of East Lansing and Andrew R. Bills of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Ben and Elizabeth Tokarski, Samantha and Jenna Bills and Jacob and Jordan Bills; a sister Judy Coffield and a brother Herbert Bills, both of Saugatuck; a sister-in-law JoAnne Bills of Providence RI; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, June 21 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Jay Lawlor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Skip's memory may be made to the National Kidney Association or a charity of your choice. Those wishing to attend the service at Ft. Custer should gather at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. to go along in procession. Meet at the funeral home by 12:45 pm on Monday. A reception will be held following the committal service in the Parish House at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 247 W.
