LANTIS, Harley D.
Galesburg Harley passed away Thursday evening, November 1, 2007 at Borgess Medical Center after struggling for six months with an illness. He was born September 18, 1934 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Dolpfus Lantis and Frances Pfeiffer Lantis Roe. Harley was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict; and he was a life member of the Hickory Corners American Legion Simmonds-Williams Post # 484. Harley was employed for 22 years at Wells Aluminum until his retirement. He was married to the former Frankie M. Garrett for 16 years and is survived by his current wife of 21 years, Donna DeHaan Lantis. Also surviving are his 5 children, James Lantis of Gary, IN, Robin Payne of Galesburg, Rita Lowery of Newnan, GA, Nancy Ray of Battle Creek, and Lu-Ann Lantis of Springfield; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Forrest Lantis of Allegan and David Lantis of Portage. Preceding him in death are his parents; and one brother, Donald Lantis. Funeral services for Harley will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. Interment will follow in Hickory Corners Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
