Climax, Michigan Harlan passed away Thursday evening August 7, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born June 14, 1929 in Flint, MI, the son of the late Russell and Helen Monroe Barrett. Harlan worked as a business agent for Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local #7 formerly Local #360. He was also a trustee for Health, Welfare, and Pension, and the Apprentice Training Program. Preceding him in death are his wife, Muriel Hopper Barrett on April 23, 1993; his parents; and his sister, Peggy Griffith. Surviving are his 4 daughters, Karen Harvey Francis of Cass City, Valerie Ron Nelson of Lapeer, Cathy Hipps of Flint, and Carrie Dennis Bush-Skaggs of Burton; many grand and great-grandchildren; his extended family, Carolyn Feltch of Climax, Robert Sandy Feltch of Climax, and Linda Mike Pierman of Galesburg; and special friends, Marion and Duane Deal and family. Memorial services for Harlan will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to American Lung Association.
