BARKS, Halloween "Holly"
Of Kalamazoo Died March 15, 2011 at Tendercare of Westwood. Halloween was born October 31, 1916 in Success, AR, daughter of James and Mary VanNada and has lived in Kalamazoo since 1942. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Washington Elementary School and later at Miller Auditorium as a wardrobe person. Holly was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Barks, a son Hershel Barks, 5 sisters and 1 brother. Surviving are a son Guy Barks of Pine Lake; 3 brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11 am Saturday, March 19 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. followed by a service to celebrate Holly's life at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Holly loved her years working at Miller Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be used toward tickets for the dedicated staff at Tendercare of Westwood for their loving support of Holly the last month of her life.
