SHERIDAN, Gregory R.
Kalamazoo, MI Greg died peacefully at home on August 16, 2011, at the age of 76. He was born April 7, 1935, in New York City, the son of the late John A. and Elizabeth O'Brien Sheridan. He was married to Helen Adler divorced in 1978 and she preceded him in death in 2008. Also preceding Greg in death was his brother, John Sheridan on July 20, 2011. Surviving are Greg's daughter, Christine Sheridan; his granddaughter, Helen Andrea Sheridan; his sister, Marybeth Walsh; his two brothers, Peter Sheridan and James Sheridan; and 11 nieces and nephews. Greg attended Regis High School in New York City, and Holy Cross College, then received a Masters' Degree in mathematics from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D.in philosophy from UCLA. He began teaching philosophy at Western Michigan University in 1964, retiring as Full Professor in 1992. His academic interests included metaphysics, logic, and the mind/body problem. He was an avid chess player, and especially enjoyed travel and opera. In accordance with Greg's wishes there will be no visitation or services.
