Of Kalamazoo, MI Grace passed away Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2009 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born September 13, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of George and Ella Conboy Schroeder. Grace attended Benjamin Franklin University Law School for 4 years and worked as an auditor for the U.S. Veterans Administration and then the U.S. General Accounting Office. In August 1941, she was united in marriage to Marshall H. Johnson, and they moved to Michigan, where they raised their family. Surviving are her two daughters, Marsha Stan Santow of Three Rivers and Shelley Johnson of Portage; two grandchildren, Heather Steve Campbell of Townsend, MT and Jennifer Richard Clements of Three Rivers; and two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ricky. Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; two sisters, Edna and Helen; and one infant brother, Stanley. Funeral services for Grace will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3626 S. 9th Street. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday today at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to WMU Waldo Library, Portage Public Library, or Kalamazoo Public Library.
