NEIDLINGER, Mr. Gordon L.
Vicksburg, MI Died Monday morning October 25, 2010 at his residence. Gordon was born April 18, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the son of R.C. and Neva Mead Neidlinger. He served 20 years Honorably with the U.S. Navy spending the first 2 of those years in Japan. He had been a lifelong Vicksburg resident and owned and operated A&M Machine Shop in Kalamazoo, MI for many years before retiring in 2000. Gordon enjoyed family get-togethers for Sunday dinners and the trips he and Pat made on a Switzerland Train Excursion in 2001 and Panama Canal Cruise in 1992. He had a passion for trains and was a member of the Mid-Michigan Railroad Club and Tri-State Locomotive Club. Gordon built a scale model of a Grand Trunk Western Steam Locomotive and spent many weekends throughout the summers running his train at Cornwell's Turkeyville USA near Marshall, MI. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents. On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Patricia "Pat" A. Knerr Neidlinger who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Judy Wilcox of Portage, Jerald Neidlinger of Vicksburg, and Gene Neidlinger of Portage; 3 grandchildren, William, Rachel, and Ryan; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexia and Jeffery; and a sister-in-law, Angela Knerr of Portage. Graveside services will be held 1 o'clock Tuesday in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Mid-Michigan Railroad Club.
