Gnani Ruth Prasad Moses, was born on January 4, 1943, to Isaiah and Mary Prasad, in Nuzvid, Andhra Pradesh, India. She grew up in a loving Adventist family as the fourth daughter of five: Mildred, Nancy, Lalitha, Gnani, and Panchi. She attended elementary schools in Narsapur and Surat, then high school and college at Spicer Memorial College in Pune, India. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Secretarial Science in 1967. Gnani loved singing and playing piano and had a special talent for that; at Spicer, she was fondly referred to as the "Nightingale of the Southern Asia Division". On May 18, 1969, she was united in marriage to Y.J. Moses from Singapore. For five years, she taught at the Southeast Asia Union College and SDA school in Singapore. Here, they were blessed with two loving children, Kenneth and Juanita. In December 1974 the family moved to Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan where Gnani worked as an administrative assistant, while her husband was in graduate school. In 1977, the family moved to Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI, where she worked as an office manager while she completed her Master's degree in Business Education. She also taught at various public schools across Michigan prior to returning to MSU to complete her Doctoral degree in Business Education in 1988. In 1992, while Kenneth and Juanita were attending Andrews University, Gnani and her husband moved to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. There she taught parttime at Union College and in Lincoln public schools. In 1998, she moved to Stockton, CA, to live with her son Kenneth to assist him while in medical residency training. After returning to Lincoln, Gnani suffered a massive stroke in 2003 and was paralyzed on the right side, requiring continuous care in a local nursing home. At her wish and the grandchildren's request, Gnani was moved to the Laurels of Galesburg in Michigan in 2006. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending church in Kalamazoo. On July 22, 2013, she suffered another massive stroke. She passed peacefully to her rest on October 30, 2013. She is survived by her husband Dr. Y.J. Moses, of Lincoln, NE; son Dr. Kenneth Moses of Redlands, CA; daughter Dr. Juanita Moses Doug Campbell of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren Solana and Suvan Campbell; sisters and their families: Nancy Mathew of Lacombe, Alberta; Lalitha Mall of Pune, India; and Panchi Latour of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest sister, and two nephews, who all are awaiting that glorious day when our Lord and Saviour returns to take us home! The family will receive visitors at the Kalamazoo SDA Church, 1601 Nichols Rd, Kalamazoo, MI, on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 12:00 pm. Following will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Royce Snyman officiating. Private interment will take place on Monday at the Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
