SOUTHERTON, Glen R.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Died May 5, 2013. Glen was born August 4, 1930 in Macy, IN to the late Henry Lee and Orpha Mae Yoder Southerton. Glen was united in marriage to Ann Fenning on June 22, 1957 for a loving 55 years together. Glen graduated from Rochester High School, IN in 1948 and completed pharmacy school at University of Michigan in 1952. He served 2 years in the Army until honorably discharged in September of 1954. Upon returning from the service, he completed his MBA from U of M Business School. He joined The Upjohn Company in 1956 where he worked until his retirement in 1990. He served 14 years overseas while with Upjohn, joined by his wife and family. He also loved to travel and take pictures. Glen is survived by his wife, Ann Southerton of Kalamazoo; his children, Deborah Lee Robert Wiley of Portage, Fredrick Jay Helen Bernardi Southerton of San Diego, CA, Keith Edward Sue Gawel Southerton of Caledonia, MI and Katharine Ann Lars Andersen of Greenville, MI; and 9 grandchildren, Thomas Alan and Heidi Ann Wiley, Lee Samuel, Emily Marie, Craig Eli, Erica Jean and Paul Francis Southerton, Jeremy Mogens and Devon Glen Andersen. Glen is also preceded in death by his baby sister, Mary Lee Southerton. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, 10:30 at Friendship Village Kiva Room, 1400 N. Drake Rd. with family greeting friends from 10-10:30. A private interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Arrangements by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friendship Village Woods Fund or to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
