Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012. Gladys was born December 10, 1933 in Moulton, AL, the daughter of Jessie and Lona Little Vess and lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. She was employed by Borgess Nursing Home in the dietary department for many years and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. When her mother died at an early age, Gladys raised her 8 brothers and one sister. She loved her family and all the kids. On July 11, 1967, she married Charles Guthrie, who preceded her in death on August 13, 1992. She was also preceded by her parents and three grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her children, Steven Earl Oliver of Albertville, AL, Kathy Rodney Blank and Jo Ann Steve Craig, of Kalamazoo; a special daughter, Mary George Neiman; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 8 brothers, Harold, Ray, Gerald, Curtis, Wayne, Gary, Donnie and Rene Vess; a sister, Carolyn Borden; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Pastor Efrain Maya, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
