Kalamazoo, MI Gilbert John Bos, age 61, died Saturday evening, July 20, 2013 in Kalamazoo. He was born on September 5, 1951 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Conrad and Kathryn Ruess Bos and had been a life long area resident. Gilbert retired from Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety after 30.7 years of service. He was assigned to many departments and ended his career in staff services/services division. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98. Gilbert was an avid collector of NASCAR items and loved the Detroit sports teams. He was extremely proud of his family and was very patriotic. Gilbert was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Jerry Bos; and three sisters, Loanne G. Damm, Bonnie K. Otero and Deborah J. Otero. He is survived by: a niece, Amy Brian Zigler; five nephews, Eric Meisling, Brett Tinna Otero, Bryan Erica Otero, Paul Otero and Mark Otero; and three great-nephews, Troy Campay, Ryan Zigler and Wyatt Otero. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Services will be held 1:00 Thursday afternoon at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Dyke, officiating. Interment in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South will follow services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98, P. O. Box 50591, Kalamazoo, MI 49005.
