Formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan Gertrude Trudy M. Schrier was taken home to be with her Lord on April 28, 2009 at her home in Montgomery, Alabama where she resided since 2003. The legacy of this faithful woman of the covenant began on August 13, 1917 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was the oldest of four children born to Clarence Paul and Anna DeHerder Dame. She graduated from Hope College in 1939 followed by a career teaching elementary school, serving as Presidential secretary at Central College, Pella Iowa, and as an administrative assistant at Western Michigan University from 1958 to 1978. She married Nelson William Schrier on June 26, 1946 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. Trudy was an active member of Second Reformed Church, Kalamazoo, Michigan where she was actively involved in women's work. She is survived by her two children: Jack Lewis Schrier Diane of Ocala, Florida and Michael Douglas Schrier Lorna of Montgomery, Alabama. She also leaves her brother Paul Dame Marie of Kalamazoo and her sister Marian Hoekstra of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Marc Nancy Schrier, Carrollton, GA; Marylynn Bruce Williams, Prattville, AL; Eric Schrier, Fairfax, VA; and Rebecca Schrier and Jillian Schrier of Ocala, FL; two great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson Schrier; her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Russell Hage, and brother-in-law, John Jack Hoekstra. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Drive. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the church.
