POST, Gertrude Broekema
Of Portage Went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, October 7, 2010. Gertrude was born May 21, 1914 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Edward and Lena Solleveld Onderlinde and was a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. She was a lifelong member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On November 12, 1939 she was united in marriage to Jack Broekema who preceded her in death on December 16, 1953. On August 9, 1974 she married Fred Post who preceded her in death on September 7, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale; a grandson, Randy Broekema; and 2 sisters and 6 brothers. Surviving are her children, David Marilyn Broekema, Stan Broekema, Ruth Fred Rost, Jan Harold Van Dyke; daughter-in-law, Irene Broekema; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; special friends, Amy Steve Vlietstra, a brother, John Gail Onderlinde; sisters-in-law, Trena Onderlinde, Daisy DeKryter, Terry Sopjes, Jean Stoneburner, Ann Post, Henrietta Post; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 o'clock Monday at the Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd, with Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service. Private family interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Park Village Pines, or the Grace Christian Reformed Church. www.langelands.com
