Gertrude L. Mitterling

MITTERLING, Mrs. Gertrude L. Hendriksen
Of Kalamazoo, MI Gertrude went home to be with her Lord Saturday morning, May 9, 2009. She was born February 17, 1915, in Goshen, Indiana, the daughter of John and Jennie Solleveld Hoogenboom. She was a member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aide Society. On July 31, 1940, she married John C. Hendriksen, who preceded her in death on January 26, 1974. On August 8, 1976, she married Dr. Lloyd A. Mitterling, who preceded her in death on June 14, 2003. Also surviving are her children, Jeanne Aaron Middleton of Kalamazoo, Paul Lois Hendriksen of Jenison, Kathleen Jerome Westergaard of Plainwell and Sue Joseph Carr of Portage; step-children, Maurice Mitterling of New York and Susan Mitterling Kevin Bohacs of Houston, TX; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street and at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 AM. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Heritage Christian Reformed Church 2857 South 11th St with Rev. Simon Tuin officiating. A private family interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in Gertrude's memory may be directed to Heritage Christian Reformed Church or Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
