Gertrude G. Kiel

KIEL, Gertrude G.
Formerly of Plainwell, Gertrude Grace Kiel was born March 13, 1917, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of George and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Burke Kiel and passed away January 17, 2012, in Hastings, MI. She was a longtime area resident who resided in Kalamazoo, Plainwell, Richland and most recently Hastings. In her earlier years she was employed with Allen Electric, Kalamazoo Stove Co. and Hotop Plumbing. Gertrude enjoyed bowling, reading and traveling, but the most important part of her life was spending special times with her family, especially weekends with her nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Stella Slater, Eleanor VanderGeest, Jennie VanderGeest, Albert, Herman, David and Benjamin Kiel. Surviving are many special nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Saturday, January 21st at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where a funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday with Rev. Mark Jennings officiating. Interment will following in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
