HOKENMAIER, Mrs. Gertrude M. Portage Age 76 Loving mother and wife, Gertrude passed away in the presence of friends and family on the evening of Saturday, January 20, 2007, and is now in the loving arms of her Lord. Gertrude was born July 20, 1930 in South Haven, MI the daughter of Glenn and Edna Norcross. She was married to Karl Hokenmaier on July 15, 1950 at the Casco Methodist Church. She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, and worked several jobs until she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 44. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Bess and brother-in-law Bob. She is survived by her husband, Karl G. Hokenmaier; her only remaining sibling, Neil Betty Norcross; four children: Karl Glenn Hokenmaier, Glenn K. Cindy Hokenmaier, Debra A. James Houseman, and Robert J. Kairi Hokenmaier; her seven grandchildren, Julie R. Hokenmaier, Jason G. Hokenmaier, Jon K. Sarah Hokenmaier, Amanda A. HousemanKevin Orosz, Brian J. Houseman, Ali M. Hokenmaier, Mikelyn J. Hokenmaier; 2 step-grandchildren, Amber Eric Dodds and Mike Novisky; a great grandson, Jacob G. Hokenmaier; a step great granddaughter, Madeline Dodds; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Rev. Paul Nuechterlein officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis of Michigan, 21311 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076.
