Gertrude C. ''Trudy'' Doane

DOANE, Gertrude C., ?Trudy? Kalamazoo Passed away Saturday, April 15, 2007. She was born November 4, 1915 in Carlstadt, NJ the daughter of William Colman and Bertha Amelia Wohlgemuth Frederick and had lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1943. She had been employed by Kalamazoo Coaches, now called Unifab, as an office manager for 10 years. She also co-owned Fairfield Gardens, where she raised many award winning iris, African violets and orchids. Trudy won many top awards for her needlepoint and knitting projects. Her interests also included antiques, antique and costume jewelry, gardening and of course, her family. On February 10, 1942 she married William Alston Doane, who preceded her in death on November 20, 1995. She was also preceded by her parents; and her sister, Adele Erickson. Trudy is survived by her daughter, Catherine Susan Doane Tucci and her husband John Joseph Tucci, of Richland; her granddaughters, MiaFlora QiYang Tucci and Allison TruNingYu Tucci of Richland; and two cousins, Emma Dodd of Clifton, NJ and Evelyn McKnight of Midland Park, NJ. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family committal will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the family cottage on Sherman Lake. Please contact the family for more details.
